The third annual Wrestling Classic, which features the top 16 singles wrestlers in a single elimination tournament, returned to seeding each of the competitors in the brackets. After being ousted in the second round by the Bounty Hunter the previous year, Thantos returned to win his second Wrestling Classic Trophy. The then heavyweight champion furthered enforced his dominance of the sport.
