With the conclusion of the Iron Woman Tournament, the GWF moves on in the series of round robin events with the Six-Man Iron Team Tournament. Coming to you from the Prantares United Center, Rosette Nebula, 30 men, 10 teams will compete to see who is the best 3-man combination in the galaxy.
Entered in the competition are:
The Gladiators - Thunder, Overkill and Vengeance (GWF Tag-Champs and GWF Heavyweight champ)
The GWF Super-Team - Chaos, Alpha Force and Matador
CPC - Colossus, Heracles and Janus
Genesis - Buck Steele, Wraith and Max Shield (GWF TV champ)
Masked Assassins - Theatre of Pain and Enigma
Colonizers - Rebel Empire and Mandrill
Fighting Titans - Rising Sun, Scion Nexus and Ursa Major
Rocketmen - Twin Blood and Skinhead
Hitmen - Dark Justice, Greg Valentine and Mike Fortune
Terrorists - Draconian Sheik, Splatter and Vyper
The galaxy will have to wait until the final day of competition to see if the Gladiators really do run the GWF. The keepers of all the GWF titles have 5 matches on day No. 3, and they are the last five matches of the entire tournament. The Assassins have six matches the final day. The Colonizers will compete five times on day 2, while the Titans see action 5 times on day 1.
Three other matches have been signed for this mega-event, one for each day of the tournament. Lance At-Las will square off against Monad. The Code Enforcer looks to show the U.S. Traitor the error of his ways in a Total Anarchy Match. Spike will defend the Death Match championship against Mayhem in a Barbed Wire Cosmic Cage match.
In another week's time at the Iron-Light Tournament, Max Shield has been signed to defend his TV title on two days of that event. First against Vyper then the champion will face Jack of Diamonds on the final day. Shield defeated Pain Master in a 2/3 falls Titan Death Match at the Iron Woman Tournament.
The Lower World vs. Wraith & Blizzard match scheduled to be at the Iron-Light Tournament has been moved to another GWF house show. Anyone ordering the Iron-Light event to see this tag-team match will be refunded their money.
There is still a long way to go and the Gladiators only had one match on opening day. However, they lost that contest by D.Q. against the Rocketmen. Vengeance is saying the ref intentionally called the match to keep them from winning, but it won't matter.
The first match on the card saw one of the longest running feuds in GWF history write another chapter. The Titans met the Assassins to kick things off, and it was Darkos' team getting the win.
In other day 1 grudge matches: the Terrorists/Hitmen match didn't last long with the Sheik's team getting the win by D.Q. The Colonizers defeated the Genesis team.
After one day, the Colonizers are in first place with 50 points. The CPC and CotG teams are tied for second with 40. The Rocketmen, Titans and Terrorists all have 30 points. The Assassins and Genesis squads registered 20 points, and the Gladiators and Hitmen have 0.
The Hitmen are hurting as they have four of their nine matches gone and have yet to score. The Titans have just four matches left.
Also on day 1: Lance At-Las won a quick match against the CPC's Monad.
The Gladiators are still not happy campers. They are on the scoreboard now and still in position to take the title. But in their first match on day 2 against the CotG team, they got the 3-count but then the ref saw Alpha Force's leg on the ropes. He restarted the match. After a tremendous fight between the teams, the Champions squad won the match. This served to further enrage the Aethrans. They sucked it up and won an all-important match against the CPC and then destroyed Buck Steele and the Genesis team.
After two days of competition, the Colonizers are still in first place with 110 points. The CotG and CPC squads are tied with 100. Rocketmen 70, Terrorists 50, Gladiators 40, Titans 30, Hitmen, Assassins & Genesis with 20.
The Assassins have six matches on the final day so they still have a shot at winning it all. The Gladiators have 5 matches left, the last 5 of the whole shooting match so they will know what they have to do in order to take the tournament. The Colonizers have one match and it is against the Gladiators.
The GWF and CPC contingents each have 3 matches and one of them is against each other. Genesis, Rocketmen, Titans and Hitmen cannot win the tourney.
Also on day 2: the Code Enforcer fought a violent Total Anarchy Match against the U.S. Traitor. Traitor dished out more punishment, but the CE withstood two mines blowing up under him. The Traitor lost when he stepped in the wrong spot.
An added attraction to the tournament's final day will be Spike defending the GWF Death Match title in a Barbed Wire Cosmic Cage Match against Mayhem.
The match that determined the Iron Team winner was the CotG vs. the CPC. It went back-and-forth with the CPC in control the majority of the time. Janus had the Gordian Knot on and got the submission, but he used the ropes for leverage and the match was continued. Chaos & Matador carried the offense for the GWF. After both withstood the onslaught of Janus, Colossus & Heracles, Chaos tagged Alpha Force and they nailed a double team finisher and got the pin.
Thunder, Overkill & Vengeance had to wrestle the last five matches with no chance of winning the tournament. They took the fight to the floor every chance they got, and the Titans won the first contest by D.Q. The Gladiators then decapitated the Assassins. The Aethrans then got a win by D.Q. against the Hitmen. The Colonizers gave them the best fight, but the Gladiators won that match. The final event saw the Terrorists in the ring. Three great brawlers tried to battle it out with the Gladiators, but at this point they didn't care anymore and Spike and Malice came out. All five Gladiators went to work on the Terrorists, then Mayhem came back out and soon a battle royal was taking place. After a few minutes of this the show finally went off the air with the brawl still ongoing.
Final standings:
1. CotG 150
2. CPC 130
3. Colonizers 110
4. Gladiators (Six-Man champs) 90
5. Terrorists 80
6. Rocketmen 70
7. Genesis 60
8. Assassins 50
9. Titans 40
10. Hitmen 20
In a Barbed Wire/Cosmic Cage match just before the Gladiators entered the ring, Spike defended the Death Match title against Mayhem. Mayhem was fierce with a piledriver and headbutt, then landing the Leap of Doom. Spike's foot was on the ropes but the ref didn't see it and Mayhem won the title. Most people would not want to be in Mayhem's place, but I'm sure he can't wait for the rematch with Spike so they can really get down and dirty as neither man got the chance to inflict any pain in this quick pin.
