The best continue to compete in the ultimate tournament series, the Iron Man. The GWF Iron-Light Tournament is next at the Praesepe Tower, Cancer. There, the top 10 cruiserweights in the galaxy will be flying high.
The contestants are: Archon (GWF Cruiserweight champion), Blade, Skinhead, Brainstorm, Enigma, Lycosa, Prodigy, Mad Jester, Halcon Oro, and Rising Sun.
Things are really heating up with the Gladiators. In the aftermath of the Six-Man Iron Team Tournament and Spike losing the Death Match title to Mayhem, a sort of rematch has been ordered. In a Steel Cage Tirion Triple Threat Match, Mayhem will defend against Spike and Wolf! The amount of carnage in this one is nearly unimaginable.
That will happen on day 1 of the tourney. Day 2 will see Max Shield defend the GWF TV title against Vyper. On the final day, the TV title holder will defend against Jack of Diamonds.
At the end of the day, Skinhead is in first place with 70 points. Jester is second with 40, Rising Sun and Prodigy have 30. Blade, Brainstorm, Lycosa and Enigma have 20. Halcon Oro and Cruiserweight champion Archon are scoreless.
Rising Sun had his three matches all in-a-row to start the show. His opening battle with Lycosa ended in his losing by D.Q. thanks to Nexus' interference. R. Sun then beat Brainstorm by D.Q. when Johnny Rocket got involved. He then pinned Skinhead.
A surprise match that was better than predicted was Brainstorm vs. Halcon Oro. Oro dominated with awesome moves to the outside. Rocket kept his man in the match with his constant interference. But Storm was tough too (game note: Brainstorm's pin was 11 and he rolled the magical 12 to keep the match going!) After that Brainstorm came back to get the pin.
Skinhead scored the most points because he had the most matches. After losing to Jester, he quickly beat his partner Brainstorm. Then he destroyed Prodigy and Oro on the outside to win by countout.
Blade beat his mentor Archon.
Also on the card: Mayhem defended the Death Match title in a Barbed Wire/Cage Triple Threat match against Wolf and Spike. This was bloody with Wolf and Mayhem as vicious as any point in there careers. Mayhem fought like he was born to be Death Match champ. Spike got doubleteamed and was beaten too quickly for his taste. Then Wolf and Mayhem went back and forth with both cut heavily from the barbed wire. Mayhem got in the last big move to beat Wolf and retain the title.
On day 2: Enigma vs. Rising Sun; Prodigy vs. Jester; Archon vs. Skinhead TV champ Max Shield defends against Vyper
Rising Sun is in the lead with 100 points and one match left. Skinhead and Prodigy with 80, Jester 60, Enigma, Blade and Brainstorm 40, Archon 35, Lycosa and Halcon Oro 20.
Also on day 2, Max Shield defended the TV title against Vyper. The Terrorist had the offense going and kept Shield on the defensive. After a pair of Vyper Sideshow's he put away Shield to become the GWF TV champion. Vyper will now put the belt on the line against Jack of Diamonds on day 3 of the Iron-Light Tournament.
Prodigy had been unable to beat Archon in all of his previous encounters. In the midst of some great action, both Thantos and Lorelei got involved in the match. Prodigy had the advantage and used it to toss Archon to the floor, where Thantos slapped on the Masterlock. Prodigy went for the pin, but Lorelei's distraction provided Archon a chance to get up and attack from behind. Prodigy held on against a variety of submission moves to put away the injured Archon to win the match and the tournament.
After that loss Archon still had to wrestle Engima and Brainstorm. Enigma used Archon's injuries to his advantage and got a quick win over the champ to use to his advantage at a later date. Archon was able to beat Brainstorm and salvage falling in the standings any farther.
Prodigy wins the Iron-Light Tournament to get himself back on top of the cruiserweight rankings with 140 points. Here are the final scoring totals.
1. Prodigy 140
2. Enigma 120
3. Archon (Cruiserweight champ) 105
4. Rising Sun 100
5. Skinhead 100
6. Blade 80
7. Mad Jester 60
8. Brainstorm 40
9. Halcon Oro 40
10. Lycosa 20
Also on day 3, Vyper put the TV title on the line against the Jack of Diamonds. It was all Vyper in this one as Jack could get no offense going at all. Vyper didn't take too long before hitting the Sideshow for the win. Vyper will not go onto the Iron Team Tournament and have at least one more title defense before the Iron Man Tournament.
