At the last minute, the GWF executive committee has had to make some changes to the lineup for the Iron Team Tournament. Commander Sam has contacted GWF offices and has removed his team of Jack of Diamonds and Defender of the Realm, the Royal Flush, from the tournament. Problems have mounted between the two, mostly dealing with the Mad Jester but also Jack's recent run of singles action, including a brief stint as TV champ.
They have been replaced by the former I-P tag champs the Lower World. The Brymstone team had a very successful run with the belts and injuries have kept them from getting back into contention.
The final team to make the field of 10 is Anarchy and Blazing Skull. There was much deliberation on who would get into the tournament, and finally these two were decided upon.
Rumors are also going around about problems between Darkos' teams of Theatre of Pain and the Ninja Assassins. They don't seem to be getting along and one source says the Theatre were close to being pulled from the tournament by Darkos. They will be in it and the match between the two should prove very interesting.
Here are the 10 teams now entered into the tournament:
Thunder & Overkill (GWF tag champs)
Twin Blood (I-P tag champs)
Theatre of Pain
Ninja Assassins
Lower World
Unspeakable Horror
Rebel Empire
Desolation Factor
Disorder-X
Cygnus Strikeforce
The Iron Team Tournament will take place at the Maxus Trinary Towers, Auriga. For the first time in Iron Tournament history, a wrestler or team went through the random ordering of matches process and will not compete at all on one day of the event. Desolation Factor do not have a match on the first day, but have six on day 2. Ninja Assassins, Twin Blood and Unspeakable Horror also have a six-match day to look forward to.
Also to take place during the three days of competition: Vyper defends the TV title against Dark Justice in a Total Anarchy Match. Spike & Malice meet Mayhem and the Mad Jester in a Four Weapons of Destruction match. Wolf teams up with Pegasus to take on Colossus & Heracles.
The time for waiting is over. It is now time for the main event!
Unspeakable Horror had six matches on day 1 and they won all of them, with five by pinfall. They are looking like a real tag-team, and with judicious use of illegal tactics they are in first place and have almost won this thing already. They won by D.Q. over the Rebel Empire, and put away the Lower World, Disorder-X, Cygnus Strikeforce, Theatre of Pain and the GWF tag-team champions the Gladiators.
The Assassin camp is in disaray. Darkos is openly hostile to the Theatre and favoring the Ninja Assassins even though they have not won a match either.
Vyper defended the TV title in a Total Anarchy Match against Dark Justice. These two spent over 10 minutes brawling through the arena. Two times Vyper got hit with a mine but kicked out. D. Justice kicked out once, but a second explosion helped put him down and Vyper retained the belt. Vyper will now get a spot in the Iron Man Tournament.
Blazing Skull and Anarchy, Unspeakable Horror, have done the impossible. They blazed out in front by scoring 110 points on day 1. They only needed 15 more points to win it all, and that is what they did.
The Gladiators are embarrassed by their performance and promise changes will be made, and their belts are very safe. The I-P champs, Twin Blood, did not fair well either.
The Assassin camp seems to be falling apart. Problems arose between the Ninja Assassins and the Theatre of Pain. Neither duo did very well at all, but Darkos seemed to favor the Ninjas. The Theatre got revenge though by beating their former group partners.
Also on the card: Wolf and Pegasus took on Colossus and Heracles. It was Millenium dominating the action and pounding on both men. The Champions team couldn't seem to work together and lost the match by D.Q. Spike & Malice came out on top in a Four Weapons of Destruction match against Mayhem and the Mad Jester.
In an added match: Vyper defended the GWF TV title against Buck Steele. Vyper suffered much in this one as it only took one offensive move from him before he was facing, or looking up at, Genocide. The monster tossed Vyper around the ring and on the floor, but the Terrorist kept fighting. Finally a power bomb on the concrete finished Vyper off and he did not make it back in the ring before the 10 count. Genocide won the match but Vyper retained the TV title.
